It's just a tool and you have to find the right tool that clicks with you and feels most natural. They all look and behave slightly different and often one feels more natural for the artist.

Just like with traditional art tools where there's Acrylics, Oils. Often I think it really just comes to personal preference. The best would be a combination of both - but as we know ADESK - thsi will likely not happen. CS can be a bit clumsy compared to CAT, but using motion mixer and workbench, it's not to hard doing looping anims even out of mocap data. Originally it was indepentently developed, but the dev got bought out by Softimage. I did'nt vote though, because the initial question is silly - it's like the question, what color is better: It tends to be quirky at times, but if you know the pitfalls, sharp corners and workarrounds for it, it's a big timesaver - again for the oneman-show, who has'nt got 10 animators or riggers sitting arround, just waiting for your commands. Both offer about the same power but with different mindset, so if your brain got wired to one already, you'll find it hard to get into the other.įor me, i find Max to be the better integrated overall solution for my One-Man show, where Maya has the better openeness and ability to integrate into bigger piplines (as said already, but that's not something i need).ĭon't underestimate it's power, don't judge it's usefullness before you did'nt master it.
#Autodesk 3ds max vs maya professional
That said i am a 10yr+ Max professional user, and know Maya too. This is an endless debate with no real outcome, but most of the time simply end in a bashing fest. There is a reason that those kind of threads are COA (closed on arrival) on some professional forums.
